This class gives an overview of the stage management process. I will spend time covering the duties of the stage manager in each part of the production process, the best methods to accomplish these duties, and the oft-forgotten aspects of attitude, demeanor, and presence. I can make it as quick or as in depth as you like. Usually a good overview with a bit of depth will take about 3-5 hours depending on your specific needs and class size.
Focus on Meyers-Briggs Personality Types will be used to survey the types of people one might work with in the theatrical world. Strategies for dealing with different types of personalities and understanding them better will be discussed.
PROCESS OF DESIGN
Students will learn the foundations of the design process that apply to all areas of design. These include Analysis, Research, Incubation, Selection, and Implementation, and are interchangeable through all disciplines. We will explore the many ways to work through design conception in each segment of the process, and discuss the importance of each.
Have you ever wanted to make your own muppet? Or wondered what truly brings puppets to life? A workshop in puppetry can help answer these questions. Workshop can be based on puppetry performance or construction. Performance workshop will include work with puppets in the form of improvisation, as well as reading from a set script. A construction workshop can be used to construct that muppet you've always wished you had. The length of this workshop will be determined by what type of puppet is desired (muppet, found object, sock, etc.). There is also an extra cost for materials.
